Statement by the Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party of Kenya

13th July 2023

A Pro-People Collaboration for Prosperity and Sustainable Agriculture

CPK Signs an MOU to Build a State-of-the-Art Groundnut Processing Plant in Gem Constituency

Today, we proudly announce a historic milestone in our unwavering pursuit of a progressive and pro-people development agenda. The Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party of Kenya (CPK) has joined forces with Yasian to launch the visionary program, "From Soil to Success: Join the Groundnut Revolution." This transformative collaboration marks a significant stride towards combating extreme poverty, fostering economic growth, and promoting sustainable agriculture in Gem constituency.

A Revolutionary Endeavor Rooted in People-Centered Development

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) solidifies our shared vision and unwavering commitment to uplifting the people of Gem constituency. Guided by our resolute dedication to an alternative model of development, one that prioritizes the well-being of our people, we recognize the urgent need to create avenues for smart agriculture and drive the wheels of industrialization. The partnership with Yasian represents a concrete step towards realizing these aspirations.

Groundnut Revolution: Illuminating the Path to Prosperity

Under the visionary program, "The Groundnut Revolution," we envision a future where contracted groundnut farming and a state-of-the-art processing plant form the bedrock of sustainable prosperity. This revolutionary initiative aims to empower our community, attract pro-people development models, and lay the foundation for a thriving Gem constituency. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to both the county and national governments for their unwavering support in this noble endeavor.

CPK's Commitment: Pioneering Collective Empowerment

CPK is at the forefront of this transformative program, spearheading efforts to empower groundnut farming cooperatives, foster community participation, and promote resource sharing. Our strategic partnerships with peasant organizations will ensure access to fertile farmland, while knowledge transfer and training programs will equip farmers with cutting-edge techniques for a prosperous future.

Yasian's Vital Role: Nurturing Prosperity Through Collaboration

Yasian, a key partner in this transformative journey, brings invaluable financial support and technical expertise to the table. They will secure the necessary finances, evaluate project viability, and establish and manage a state-of-the-art groundnut processing plant. As the off-taker of the harvest, Yasian guarantees direct benefits for farmers, while forging strategic market linkages with local and international distributors, supermarkets, export agencies, and food processing companies, expanding the reach of groundnut products.

Empowerment Through Opportunity: A Brighter Future for Gem Constituency

This groundbreaking collaboration will revolutionize the agricultural landscape of Gem constituency, creating numerous employment opportunities for the majority of our people. We firmly believe that the Groundnut Revolution will pave the way for a brighter and more prosperous Gem Constituency, overcoming the lasting impacts of the detrimental 1990 structural adjustment plans.

Uniting Forces: Solidarity towards Social Justice and Liberation

The momentous event was graced by esteemed comrades from the National Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party of Kenya, alongside regional political leaders and 50 farmers representing the six wards of Gem. We express our heartfelt appreciation to Comrade James Pan, the owner and Director of Yasian, for sharing reflections on the revolutionary legacy of Comrade Mao and the remarkable achievements of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in addressing rural poverty.

Forging Ahead: A Revolutionary Call to Action

As we embark on this transformative project, we are reminded of the resounding words of General Secretary Sefu, emphasizing the paramount importance of building a people's movement and addressing their daily struggles. We firmly recognize that poverty is a man-made phenomenon perpetuated by a parasitic class, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to eradicating poverty and creating a just and equitable society for all.

Grateful Acknowledgment and Collective Determination

The Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party of Kenya extends heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported and contributed to this momentous achievement. United in solidarity, we forge ahead, upholding the timeless principles of social justice, equality, and liberation from the shackles of poverty.

Long Live the Communist Party of Kenya! Long Live the Revolutionary Spirit!

Long Live the Partnership between CPK and Yasian!

Signed,

Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party of Kenya
