Nairobi, Kenya - Today, on June 6, 2023, the Communist Party of Kenya issues this urgent press release to the public, expressing our deep concerns regarding the intended interference of our party's records by the state, facilitated by the registrar of political parties and individuals like Benedict Wachira. This alarming development calls for immediate attention, as it represents a desperate attempt by the Kenyan government to undermine our democratic gains and manipulate the course of our party's activities.
This interference is not an isolated incident but part of a larger strategy orchestrated by the Kenya Kwanza kleptocracy. Their aim is to co-opt ‘revolutionaries’ and rally support for President William Ruto, a controversial figure associated with corruption and extreme evangelical views. It is disheartening to witness former party members like Benedict Wachira betray our party's principles and align themselves with a leader who lacks transparency and admires problematic political regimes.
Equally concerning is the involvement of the registrar's office, including figures like Daniel Kinuthia Ndung'u, who share a history with Mr. Wachira. These actions raise serious questions about the independence and integrity of the registrar's office, as it seems to be influenced by the Kenya Kwanza administration rather than fulfilling its role objectively.
In response to these blatant attempts to undermine our party, the Communist Party of Kenya calls for international solidarity in defending our rights and resisting state interference. We refuse to let any meddling with our party's records go unchallenged. We will explore all available legal avenues and employ active political actions to protect our integrity and preserve the democratic process.
Moreover, it is crucial to highlight that the registrar of political parties lacks the authority to amend the leadership of any party without a national congress. We express serious concerns about Anne Nderitu's alleged association with the Kenya Kwanza administration, which casts doubts on her commitment to the impartiality of her office. The registrar must prioritize upholding the independence and integrity of the political parties under its jurisdiction, rather than succumbing to external influences.
Today, on this momentous date of June 6, 2023, we issue this press release as an impassioned appeal to the international community and the Kenyan public. We call for your unwavering support and solidarity as we strive to safeguard the Communist Party of Kenya from unjust state attacks and the manipulation of so-called 'rich communists' who align with the Kenyan government's agenda. Our struggle is not merely for ourselves but for the rights and aspirations of the working class and all oppressed people.
We stand united, resolute, and determined in the face of adversity. Together, we shall prevail and usher in a future where justice and equality reign supreme!
Long live the Communist Party of Kenya!
Long live the international solidarity of revolutionaries!
