10th January 2025

The Communist Party Marxist (CPM-K) Kenya and the Kenya Western Sahara Solidarity Committee (KWSSC) express outrage and condemnation of the outgoing Akufo-Addo administration’s betrayal of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR). By issuing the note to “suspend diplomatic relations” with the SADR, the Ghanaian government has exposed itself as a willing accomplice to neo-colonial interests driven by United States,  France, Israel, and Morocco.

This act mirrors the failed attempt by President William Ruto in 2022, when he rescinded Kenya’s recognition of the SADR under the pressure of U.S. and Israeli imperialist forces. Both instances demonstrate the extent to which African leaders are being rented by external forces to undermine African unity and the aspirations of oppressed peoples like the Sahrawi. However, just as President Ruto’s betrayal was met with fierce resistance and ultimately failed, so too shall the disgraceful actions of Akufo-Addo.

Ghana has long stood as a symbol of African independence, solidarity, and resistance to colonial domination. The decision to severe ties with the SADR betrays these principles, dishonors Ghana’s legacy, and undermines the African Union’s stance on Western Sahara. This decision empowers Morocco, the colonial aggressor, to perpetuate its brutal oppression, theft of Sahrawi resources, and denial of the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.

Under Moroccan occupation, the Sahrawi people have endured unimaginable suffering, including:

* Systematic human rights violations, including arbitrary detention, torture, and extrajudicial killings.

* Exploitation and plunder of Sahrawi resources, such as phosphate and fisheries, by Moroccan authorities and foreign corporations.

* Genocidal policies aimed at displacing and exterminating the Sahrawi people.

In 2022, President Ruto attempted a similar betrayal by rescinding Kenya’s recognition of the SADR under the guise of seeking “diplomatic solutions.” This move, orchestrated by U.S. and Israeli imperialist forces, was met with widespread condemnation both domestically and internationally. The Communist Party Marxist (CPM-K) Kenya exposed this as an act of servitude to foreign powers. Ultimately, the move failed, isolating Ruto further while strengthening the resolve of the Sahrawi people and their allies.

Like Ruto, Akufo-Addo has chosen to align with Morocco, a predatory colonial power, and to act as a puppet of  neo-colonialism. But just as Ruto’s betrayal failed, Akufo-Addo’s actions will not succeed. Ghana’s decision will only deepen its isolation from the progressive forces of Africa while fortifying the just cause of the Sahrawi people.

Our Demands

We demand the following immediate actions:

1. An end to human rights violations and the plunder of Sahrawi resources by Moroccan authorities and foreign corporations.

2. The immediate implementation of a referendum, in line with UN resolutions, to give the Sahrawi people the right to choose their future—whether to live under permanent Moroccan occupation or as a free and sovereign state.

3. The reversal of Ghana’s decision to suspend relations with the SADR by the incoming Mahama administration, and a reaffirmation of Ghana’s commitment to Pan-Africanism and anti-colonial solidarity.

4. Sanctions against Morocco by the African Union until it ends its occupation of Western Sahara.

The Communist Party Marxist (CPM-K) Kenya and the Kenya Western Sahara Solidarity Committee (KWSSC) reiterate that history is on the side of the oppressed. Just as the struggles of African nations against colonialism and imperialism triumphed, so too will the Sahrawi people achieve their liberation. Morocco, supported by France, United States  and other imperialist powers, will fail in its attempt to hold onto Western Sahara.

The Sahrawi people’s struggle is a just and noble cause that continues to inspire solidarity across Africa and the world. Akufo-Addo’s betrayal will not erase this truth. Ghana’s shameful actions shall isolate it further, but the Sahrawi people, armed with their unwavering resolve and the solidarity of revolutionary forces, will ultimately triumph.

LONG LIVE THE SAHARAWI PEOPLE!

LONG LIVE THE POLISARIO FRONT!

DOWN WITH MOROCCAN COLONIALISM!

LONG LIVE AFRICAN UNITY AND SELF-DETERMINATION!

Signed,

Booker Omole

Expose and Defeat US Imperialism, the Primary Aggressor Against Humanity May 26th, 2026   Nepal is a land of immense revolutionary history and immense contradiction. The mountains of Nepal carry the memory of armed struggle, sacrifice, and the blood of workers and peasants who rose against feudal monarchy and imperialist domination. The 2001 royal massacre accelerated the collapse of feudal authority and opened the road toward the struggle for national democracy. During the ten years of People’s War,  [ ... ]
